Sri Lanka has some absolutely brilliant local markets to discover. They all share some characteristics – they are full of people, tight space, all smells you can imagine – but also loads of smiles, bartering, laughter, and absolute bargains. These two here were selling fish of all kinds, though I think they had a tactic: One, the left, was the good cop, while the right one was the bad cop. The good cop would always smile and talk to you about anything, whereas the bad cop would just stare at you and remind you that this is a business and if you don’t buy something … well, I did not stay to find out.
