Costa Rica at its finest – the water was actually this blue! To get to this little lagoon, you had to simply walk down 500 steps. That’s fine – what is not fine is the way back up, at least not with 90% humidity and 35 degrees Celcius! One couldn’t even go for a swim to cool down…
New Photo: Follow The Red Line
I am hunting for stairs like these for years! I have never managed to find some – either the building was closed, the stairs were closed off, I couldn’t find them, or whatever – but in Cologne, Germany, I managed to find a couple that have that beautiful twisted look.
New Photo: Can I Interest You In Some Cloth
While shipping across the Nile in Egypt, little boats would pull up alongside our boat. Note, that our boat was around 8 meters high – those boats … were not. So they would pull up, pull out anything from headscarves to carpets, ask (screamingly) if anyone is interested – and if they even slightly assume that you or anyone else that’s looking is interested, they’d pack the object in a plastic bag, seal it, and literally throw it up onto the deck of our boat. You are then expected to remove the item from the bag, place the money in the bag, and throw the bag back down.
Some of the people we traveled with didn’t have any interest – but found a bag at their feet either way. They felt guilty that the guy went through all the trouble and bought some scarves – at least you will always remember where you bought them! Also, props to the aiming skills!
New Photo: Tunnels of Munich
Did I take the subway to get to this subway station and then back? Of course I did. This is the ‘Westfriedhof’ subway station in Munich – one of many cool artisty stations, in fact! Whoever the artist, I love the play of blue and red in this one, well done! Phill
New Photo: Quiet Mountains
Looks super chill, doesn’t it! This was the last day-stop during an Austria trip – the so-called ‘Heiterwanger See’. We stopped among a couple of campers that were gathered in a tent to stay warm and apparently enjoy some (many) drinks – besides that, there was simply nothing but simple quiet. Phill
