Isn’t this just the cutest little frog? You can find them everywhere in Costa Rica, and it’s not even that difficult considering they stand out with their color.
Movies taught me that they are super toxic and were used by the natives to hunt and kill their enemies. However, a local told me that this is just a legend – in fact, they are only poisonous if they eat a specific mosquito, and that even then they only paralyze temporarily. His reasoning was quite logical – he said “If they would be poisonous and kill animals, then they couldn’t eat the animal after hunting it”. Makes sense!
