Looks like a monkey in captivity, right? Before your alarm bells go off, here is the thing: This monkey (and many other animals) was raised in captivity in Costa Rica. Many of them were abused by gangs – for example, being drugged and used for fights. Many of these animals have experienced much worse things that I cannot write here without using words that would be flagged on social media. The point is – these animals, if they get lucky, get rescued and brought to animal recovery shelters. They are not able to live in the wild at all and most of them have severe behavioural issues after what they have been through – aggressiveness and more. The best that can be done for them is to make them as comfortable as possible and give them as good a life as can be. So while it looks like this is just another captive monkey – what you are actually seeing is a second chance for a better life.
