This door is the entrance for monks of the world-famous Yamadera temple in Japan. It is rather interesting – I thought the temples were pure tourist attractions nowadays – which really just shows how little I know about Japan – but turns out that once the temple closes, the monks take over again and go after the business. Well, this is supposedly one of the entrances leading to the area where the monks live over the day. If it isnt, its still a pretty door!
